Oh that I would know the Lord and have a heart for Him. Much of 2013 left my heart feeling far from God and yet I was brought to tears when I was reminded of Deuteronomy 7:9 this morning.
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations…”
HE is faithful and steadfast and enduring to a thousand generations. His love will endure! And though I may have felt far from God, He was as close as ever.
I have spent lots of hours over the past two weeks praying through all that God did in 2013 and all that He has for me, my marriage, my children, my relationships, and my business in 2014. I have a notebook full of ramblings to Him, asking Him to have His way in my life. I came up with 5 goals for this year. Really, for life. The only thing that changes is the specific ways I will pursue those goals. I have created a list of mini goals for each and even action steps within that for the month of January. I will share those later! But for now my hope is that you will be encouraged by the simple call on your life that is the same simple call on my life: To love God and to love others.
I came across Job 5:8-9 this morning and was struck by it’s beautiful truth. I am claiming this passage as one of my verses for I will memorize and meditate on this year. I want my life and marriage and family and work to be committed to Him. I want His plans to be the ones that come to fruition. I want to STOP trying to make things happen that are just of my own selfishness and instead I want to pursue the better course He has for me (even if it’s hard, even if it hurts. His ways are so much better.) God is so much bigger than I could ever imagine, working in marvelous, unsearchable ways that I cannot always understand. I am committing my life and heart and these goals to Him, asking Him to do with me what He will.
As for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause, who does great things & unsearchable, marvelous things without number…”
