What To Wear: To Work | Ashlee Proffitt | Styled by Megan Michele

THE LOOK.

Choosing what to wear to work can be tricky because so many different companies have different dress policies. However, most companies allow a business casual dress policy that can air on the side of too casual. So a good rule of thumb to stick to is always dress to impress because it can often be an influencer in the quality of your work and will help to set you apart of the average employee! You want to chose structured, tailored & well fitting pieces that are versatile in their look so that you can mix and match with trousers, blazers, denim and skirts.

GET THE LOOK.

Here’s a classic look for the business casual working lady! You can find the exact items linked below, but you can easily recreate a similar look with staple items from your own closet!
  1. Nude pump: Nude pumps are well-known for their ability to elongate your legs making them look taller, longer and leaner due to the eye being tricked into not noticing where the shoe begins and the leg ends! Choose a color that closely matches your skin tone to maximize this benefit!
  2. Slim Ankle Pant: A classic staple piece for a working gal’s wardrobe! This cut can easily be paired with flats, pumps or booties, making them so essential and versatile for our wardrobes!
  3. A Cardigan: Having a well-fitted cardigan with texture adds dimension to a classic look as well as giving a more professional look than a basic cotton cardigan.
  4. Fun & Flirty Blouse: Because everyone should have fun with their wardrobe, even when they’re working!
  5. Skinny Belt: Tie a layered blouse and a cardigan together with a skinny belt to accentuate your waist.
  6. Classic Earrings:
  7. Satchel Handbag: It’s really okay if we don’t spend hundreds of dollars on a purse because, let’s face it, the majority of the time they end up collecting more dust than they’re worth. If choosing to buy an inexpensive label, but wanting to have a classic look, stick to structured shapes, such as this satchel shown here.
