Curated Rooms: For the Young Single Lady / Zebra + Hot Pink | by Ashlee Proffitt

Say hello to the most perfect curated space for the 20 something, whether in her first college apartment or a young professional with a big girl job, this space is amazing! The details communicate maturity without feeling stuffy, modern without feeling cold and feminine without feeling too young.

I combined high and low items to create a space that is actually doable in real life. Invest in the pieces that you will want to last a lifetime and that will get the most use. This sofa and credenza fit that criteria perfectly. The credenza could be used in a variety of spaces, dresser, buffet, tv stand, etc. so investing in something that will last is worth every penny. And the gorgeous leather sofa?! I die. The material is quality and because it is white with a modern take on a traditional style it will transcend trends as you update with throw pillows and coordinating accessories in the room. Those two items will last beyond your college career or first years as a working professional!

I wanted to bring in elements that would soften the space and bring visual warmth so I added the zebra rug, the extra large basket and the dried palms and flowers. Bringing in natural elements automatically soften a space. I added throw pillows and a soft throw as well. Nothing says ‘comfy’ more than a big basket overflowing with blankets.

Lighting can make or break a space and should not be overlooked. I added a contemporary floor lamp with a paper shade, again to bring in that softness. The light will diffuse and create that peaceful feeling we all want at the end of a long day.

Accessories really bring a room together and can take it from ‘just moved in’ to ‘settled’ in a matter of small, purposeful touches. I added curvy black candlesticks and a hot pink vase with flowers. The shape of both communicate a mature femininity. Adding accessory elements in multiple places such as the walls, ledges, tables and the floor create a finished look, so I added a floor vase with dried black palms and framed art prints to the wall.

I wish I could go back to college and decorate my living room just like this!! Do you love it?! What would you do differently?
