Last year I wrote this post about swimsuits. And about all the body insecurities that seem to constantly plague me. Interestingly enough, writing a blog post about said insecurities doesn’t magically make them disappear. Another year older and another year battling the lies about what it means to be beautiful. Another year making intentional decisions to not live by the world’s standard of beauty.
Because beauty by the world’s standards is fleeting.
An impossible goal. An impossible standard.
On my good days I know the truth, the truth that beauty is not defined by thighs that don’t touch or sculpted abs or a number on a scale.
Beauty is found in a mama who puts aside her insecurities for the sake of splashing in the pool or making sand castles by the ocean. Beauty is found in a mama who teaches her daughter about modesty, why it’s important and how to pursue it with what we choose to wear. Beauty is found in a mama who teaches her sons that real beauty is never about what a girl looks like, but instead about how a girl loves and cares and sacrifices and thinks about others.
It’s funny how something as simple as a swimsuit can be a sweet reminder of truth to a heart so prone to wander.
So what does real beauty and swimsuits have to do with each other? As we approach summer we can make the decision to let our insecurities rule over us, making beauty be about us and how we are not meeting that impossible goal OR we can make an intentional decision to love well those around us.
To love our children well by putting aside our insecurities and being willing to actually play with them at the pool or the beach or the waterpark instead of sitting on the side lines.
Practically that looks like beautiful swimsuits that are feminine, modest, and comfortable. The swimsuits featured here by Lime Ricki are exactly. Gorgeous swimsuits that are modest and still make me feel pretty while building sandcastles and riding water slides.
If you are a mama looking for the perfect suit for the summer, look no further. For the last year, I’ve been wearing Lime Ricki suits (and in Florida we do a lot of swimsuit-wearing), and the quality is amazing. Plus you feel pretty and confident while chasing littles around a pool. Bonus.
I mean, that high waisted floral? I die. The gold zipper detail on the black suit?! And the back detail on both suits is so fun that my kids actually told me how great it was.
