What
Say hello to Sseko Designs, a company that has sent 87 women to University. A company that values business development as a means to end poverty; a company that has built a self-sustaining business that provides fair-trade opportunities; a company that is giving “stable, dignifying and fair wage employment” for those coming out of the commercial sex industry. A company that is providing real, tangible means to end the cycle of poverty.
Say hello to to Sseko. (“Say-ko,”)
When the Sseko team first reached out to me, I had just watched True Cost, a documentary that explores the high cost of fast fashion and as a result I was now on the hunt for ethically made products that I could feel good about purchasing and wearing and thus supporting. The timing was uncanny and I am so grateful to have found this business that is making such a massive impact through something as simple as a pair of pretty sandals.
Read more about Sseko’s Mission here, it’s inspiring to say the least.
And while I am obsessed with the product that Sseko has created (detailed product reviews coming soon!) I am even more excited about being a Sseko Sole Sister; a program that pairs one woman (me!) here in the States with one woman (Joan!!) from their artisan team in Uganda to build community from across the globe. Joan is one of nine children being raised by a single mother. She’s quiet and understanding and determined; she dreams of helping to end the corruption she sees taking place in public administration. Joan, I am SO grateful for you!! P.S. All sales made in conjunction with this post or future Sseko posts will help Joan earn additional scholarship funds this year!
This opportunity to build community across the globe is not just for me, you too can have a Sole Sister! By joining as a Sseko Fellow you’ll be matched with a woman on Sseko’s team and all of your sales of Sseko go towards earning her an additional scholarship!
If you weren’t a believer, wait until you see the gorgeous quality of these pretties up close. Full product review of the ribbon sandals and crossbody bag coming next week!
Join me in sending Joan to university and supporting a business that is changing lives by shopping ethically made, luxurious quality sandals, bags, and accessories now! Or by becoming a Sole Sister yourself! By joining as a Sseko Fellow you’ll be matched with a woman on Sseko’s team and all of your sales of Sseko go towards earning her an additional scholarship!
